If you like your workplace to be modern, stylish and clutter-free, Dell’s new OptiPlex 7070 Ultra computer may be of interest.

The OptiPlex 7070 Ultra is a new take on stylish all-in-one computers, which have aesthetic appeal and don’t take up much space, but aren’t as upgradeable as bulky tower PCs.

Dell has addressed that upgradeability problem. You can hide the OptiPlex in a special Dell monitor stand, so it looks like an all-in-one, but the hardware is separate to the display. That means you can upgrade the computer or your display separately.

The new OptiPlex is impressively small. What you see in the photo is the entire computer – there’s no separate power bank. It’s powered by a USB-C cable connection to a display.

You could hide it inside a jacket (if you had a pocket large enough) without anyone knowing, so it’s not surprising that it has a Kensington lock slot and other physical security measures. It weighs 650 grams.

The OptiPlex is also more powerful than typical small form factor and Intel NUC mini PCs. It supports up to an Intel 8th vPro generation Core i7 CPU, 64GB RAM and 3TB storage (1TB  SSD and 2TB HDD).

Unlike small form factor PCs, the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra is likely to be expensive. Dell hasn’t announced the Australian price yet but the on-sale date is September 24.
