Slingshot – an Australian company that aims to bring together startups and enterprises with accelerators and other initiatives – has launched a new program called Human Capital, which it claims is the first accelerator to focus on HR technologies.
The Human Capital program is open to entrepreneurs and startups looking to innovate in areas such as talent acquisition, learning and development, or employee health and wellbeing.
In exchange for 10 percent equity, participants will receive $50,000 from the Slingshot Investment Fund and access to a 12-week structured program that includes training and resources, support team of mentors and desk space at Sydney’s WeWork co-working hub.
The program includes a range of mentoring sessions and workshops designed to get the startups ready for investment.
Topics covered include the lean startup methodology, customer feedback, branding, channels, metrics, execution planning, financial modelling, investor pitching and corporate governance.
At the conclusion of the program, participants will have an opportunity to pitch to the customers, stakeholders and the media at a demo day event.
The program is supported by a number of innovation champions including former Telstra chief executive and Jobs for NSW chair David Thodey.
“So many businesses and industry leaders talk about the need to use new innovations to attract and retain top talent, create more productive, mindful and diverse workplaces and keep pace with the changing expectations and needs of workers. Now, it’s time to take action,” Slingshot chief executive Karen Lawson said.
“Increasingly, we are seeing the challenges of keeping millennial employees engaged and enabling flexibility to meet workers’ changing needs and expectations. These are real issues facing human capital leaders.”
Applications for the program close on Friday November 25, with the program set to run in early 2017.
