If you have an idea for a startup, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for – but hurry, because applications close soon.

SouthStart Accelerate is a new incubator program in Adelaide that's backed by 30 tech entrepreneurs.

The initial intake is scheduled for September, and will provide five startups with cash investments, mentoring and free use of the Majoran coworking space in Adelaide – but applications close on 5 August.

The program runs for four months, and includes opportunities to meet local and foreign potential investors.

On the financial side, SouthStart Accelerate offers $25,000 for 6 percent of each participating company, and an option to invest a further $100,000 on completion.

"We're looking for founding teams of at least two people, with the technical skills to build a software or internet product, who are passionate about starting their own companies or taking their existing startup to the next level," said co-founder Shane Cheek.

This means you can apply if you've only got an idea, have built the minimum viable product, or even if you already have customers.

"Whether startups need practical help in engineering, SEO, recruitment, product pricing, customer acquisition, building teams or executing their plans, we have a deep bench of mentor talent that have faced and solved the same problems," said Cheek.
