Getac's latest 'explosion-proof' notebook range is tougher and faster than ever.
Getac describes its new B300 notebook range as 'ultra-rugged', meeting several certifications including MIL-STD 810G, IP65, and MIL-461F, and with an operating temperature range of -29 to 60 degrees Celsius. It's even protected from salt fog and certified 'explosion proof'.
The range is in its sixth generation – and in a happy coincidence, the laptops now feature Intel's latest six-generation Core i5 or i7 processors.
With prices starting at $5264 this isn't the sort of thing you'd buy on a whim, but then it is a serious piece of kit.
The 13.3-inch display is readable in bright sunlight, and at the other extreme there is push-button selection for a display mode that provides full readability while wearing night vision googles without the need for an external filter.
The B300 also offers an impressive 15-hour battery, with an optional second battery to take up to 30 hours between charges.
Security features include smartcard, NFC, RFID and fingerprint verification, and the B300 works with Windows 10 multi-factor authentication.
Other specifications (some optional) include an Intel HD Graphics 520 chip, backlit keyboard, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB 3.0, VGA and RS-232. There's also provision for PCMCIA Type II, ExpressCard and SD cards.
