Two new GPS devices will help you avoid falling foul of the average speed camera systems.

You probably use a GPS device if you spend a lot of time in a car or truck, especially if you often travel unfamiliar routes.

The new TomTom START models include average speed display to help drivers avoid falling foul of the average speed camera systems used on some roads.

More familiar features include lifetime map updates, advanced lane guidance for difficult junctions, and smarter routing. It also provides warnings when approaching speed cameras, allowing you to download updated camera locations for three months by regularly connecting to your computer.

The TomTom START 42 has a 4.3-inch touchscreen and costs $149. The 5-inch START 52 carries a $169 price tag.
