Payment provider Ezidebit's handles all invoice payment methods in one place.

Ezidebit's new cloud payments platform (codenamed 'Highlander' as in "there can be only one) allows small businesses to accept online, direct debit, credit card and Bpay via a single account.

"Rather than having to open a merchant account at a bank or deal with payment gateways, customers just sign up and Ezidebit does all the hard work," said Ezidebit CEO Mark Healy.

Other features include Xero integration (including a process for managing overdue collections), and paperless direct debits to simplify the task of setting up customers on periodical payment plans such as gym or childcare fees.

According to the company, avoiding the need for a merchant bank account as a prerequisite for accepting card payments can save a business as much as $6,000 a year in fees.

Ezidebit's new system also integrated with more than 40 industry-specific applications, including Qikkids (for childcare operators) and Mindbody Online (for gyms and personal trainers).

The company already processes 300,000 payments a day from 1.3 million payers, with nearly 10,000 people and hundreds of people joining the platform each week.
