More phones now have the tap and go payment capability. Here's a basic introduction to what you need to know.
Apple Pay hasn't arrived in Australia, but Westpac has just broadened the scope of its Mobile Banking app for Android to include contactless payments from the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
These two phones are Samsung's latest 'hero' models with all the bells and whistles.
The Westpac Mobile Banking app now allows contactless payments to be made with Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S5, S5 Mini, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Alpha, Note 4, Note 3 and Note Edge.
Westpac customers with a supported phone will be able to tap and pay if your payment terminal supports Visa payWave, MasterCard PayPass or American Express.
We don't know how many Galaxy S6 handsets have been sold in Australia, but Samsung predicted it would be the biggest selling phone in the Galaxy range. If that's anything close to the truth, the pool of payment-enabled smartphones just got a lot bigger, so make sure your staff aren't surprised if a customer pulls out their phone instead of a card.
