MYOB has been progressively shifting its product portfolio to the cloud, whether that means pure cloud products such as MYOB Essentials or hybrid offerings such as AccountRight Live that can be used online or offline.
The latest member of the MYOB family to make the move is AccountRight Premier, the company's accounting software for mid-sized businesses, especially those with more complex inventory or payroll requirements.
“A key advantage is there are no limits on the number of users, transactions or employees - and at no extra cost. This makes it ideal for larger businesses with multiple team members and advisors working on the accounts in real-time,” said James Scollay, general manager of MYOB's business division.
Among the other benefits of cloud-based accounting (or desktop software synchronised to cloud database) is the ability to work on the same set of books from multiple locations, whether that is from different sites within the company, or so that an external accountant or bookkeeper has access to live data.
"Our years of conducting SME research shows us there is a strong correlation between solid business performance and online technology usage. For example, those who use cloud computing are 30% more likely to increase their revenue," said Mr Scollay.
Recent changes to AccountRight Premier include support for paying superannuation contributions and a warning when employees have exhausted their paid leave. MYOB plans to add SuperStream compliance ("as and when required by the ATO") and multi-currency support (late 2014).
A free app provides AccountRight Premier users with mobile access to invoicing, debtors and payments by cash or cheque. If the organisation also uses MYOB PayDirect, credit card payments can be accepted via the app.
AccountRight Premier costs $99 per month. There is a 30 day free trial and a 90 day money-back guarantee, but apart from that the minimum subscription is for one year.
