An update to DocketBank makes it easier to keep track of business receipts and other expense items.

We've mentioned DocketBank already. It lets you use your iOS or Android smartphones or tablets to photograph receipts on the spot or to use a scanner when you get back to the office.

DocketBank then organises and stores the images, provides a 'traffic light' system to show whether various categories of expenditure are within budget, and allows data export to accounting software to reduce the data entry effort.

The new DocketBank Business is a development of the DocketBank Pro service that allowed DocketBank folders to be shared by several people.

Individual DocketBank Pro users can now link their accounts to a DocketBank Business account in order to access folders designated by the latter. (One of the features of DocketBank is that it allows personal and business transactions to be kept separate.)

Depending on people's job functions, they may be given permission to add dockets, view dockets, or both - and to access only the relevant folders.

DocketBank Business thus provides one place to monitor spending across the business, with convenient reporting as well as exporting to accounting software or for further analysis in Excel. All the data - including the docket images - are encrypted and are stored for seven years to comply with ATO requirements (assuming you lodge your returns reasonably promptly and don't get into a dispute with the ATO).

A DocketBank Business account costs $19.99 per month. Each DocketBank Pro account costs $9.99 per month. 30-day free trials are available. DocketBank no longer accepts PayPal - the only way to make a subscription payment is via credit card using Australia Post's SecurePay online payment gateway.
