This free course from Google for Australians wanting to “learn how to become entrepreneurs” might be of interest.
Google and training company, General Assembly, are offering a free eight week course called “Introduction to Startup Entrepreneurship" starting from the 6th of January.
The course will also run face-to-face interaction with instructors via Google Hangouts.
The course contains four units which include:
- Unit 1 - Finding a killer startup idea. Commencement date: Monday 6th January
- Unit 2 - Design, branding and user experience. Commencement date: Monday 20th January
- Unit 3 - Technology 101. Commencement date Monday 3rd February
- Unit 4 - Marketing for startups. Commencement date Monday 17th February
Each unit is taught by instructors who have founded successful startups of their own.
Patrick Crooks who according to the profile listed on the website has “led or co-founded around twenty startups, including an IT company with over 1,200 staff and has led some of the world’s largest mobile banking projects”.
Charabel Zeaiter started up his own design agency, Velvet Onion, which has an impressive list of clientele including Nova FM, CBA, Westpac, NRMA, MBF, BHP, Optus, Vodafone, Virgin, Woolworths, Nike, Adidas and Vogue.
Accoridng to the course web site, you don't have to buy software to take part and any extra resources required will be supplied for free.
There will also be an opportunity at the end of the course to submit your startup ideas for a chance to participate in an all expenses paid, two-day “Business Bootcamp” at Google Australia where you’ll receive hands-on learning sessions and mentoring.
