If you're looking for somewhere online to store data, well-known cloud storage site Box has announced new plans and prices.

[UPDATE: this article has been updated to reflect that the prices mentioned are in $US]

Box's free storage capacity has increased to 10GB per user and the price of the 100GB starter plan has also dropped to $5 per month for each user.

The price drop makes Box one of the cheapest options for people who are looking for at least 100GB of cloud storage with other competitors such as Dropbox charging $9.99/month. Keep in mind that there is a 2GB file limit for that $5 starter plan.

We can confirm that this offer is available to Australian users as we were able to sign up for both the free storage and starter plan from the Box website.

The Box sales pitch claims the service suits "every professional and businesses of all sizes", "Whether you’re a boutique financial services firm, a construction company, a small medical practice, or a startup working with manufacturers in China".

The service has advanced sharing capabilities such as restricting file access to certain users and built in tracking and reporting capabilities, so that you always know when anyone downloads, uploads, adds comments or starts a discussion about a certain file.
