3D design software company Autodesk, will allow customers to 'rent' their software at a reduced cost from September 16th.

The products on offer under the rental program and pricing are as follows (suggested retail price in AUD - you can also see US pricing here):

While not quite as cheap as something like Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription service, Autodesk says that it gives businesses scalability - "the flexibility to easily ramp up or back depending on the project".

As a point of comparison, purchasing a new stand alone licence for AutoCAD Design Suite 2014 will set you back $6,350 (suggested retail price) in comparison to $3,175 if you were to rent the software for a year. Renting also gives you the added benefit of always having access to the latest version of the software.
