You do not have to rely on inkjet printers now that Samsung has enabled laser printing from mobile devices.

A growing number of printers aimed at the small business market are Google Cloud Print Ready - meaning they can be used to print directly from mobile devices and Google Apps - but most of them seem to be inkjets. Those who prefer laser output may be interested in the latest models from Samsung, which already has a good reputation among small businesses that need a relatively low cost laser printer.

The new Samsung ProXpress range includes printers and multifunction printers. All models feature automatic duplex output and print speeds between 38 and 40 pages per minute. That means you use less paper and spend less time waiting for your job to emerge.

The multifunction models incorporate duplex automatic document feed for scanning, copying or faxing double-sided documents.

Other helpful features include USB, Ethernet and (on certain models) Wi-Fi interfaces (providing flexibility in how you connect the printer to your other equipment), secure printing (the job is not output until the user enters a PIN on the control panel), access control software (so you can restrict who can print and what they print),  and Wi-Fi Direct support (wireless models only; allows compatible devices to wirelessly connect to the printer even if it is not connected to a wireless network).

Samsung also provides the ability to print on media up to 220gsm (eg cards and labels), and print apps for Android and iOS (so you can print directly from mobile devices). And, as previously mentioned, it offers support for Google Cloud Print.

Prices range from $159 to $369 for the printers and $299 to $899 for multifunctions.
