Dick Smith and Kmart are currently selling the Telstra Elite Mobile Wi-Fi broadband hotspot with included 5GB of pre-paid data for $39.

Dick Smith and Kmart are currently selling the Telstra Elite Wi-Fi Broadband Hotspot with included 5GB of pre-paid data for $39, which is 50% off the $80 RRP.

Note that the 5GB of included data will expire after 30 days from the date of activation.

A portable Wi-Fi hotspot device like this allows you to connect up to five devices - such as your smartphone, tablet and laptop - at the same time to the Internet via the mobile data network.

Wi-Fi hotspot devices are particularly handy if you regularly travel within the country and need to get online.

Many smartphones and tablets available today however also have the ability to turn into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, negating the need for a dedicated hotspot device. However using your phone or tablet as a hotspot can chew through battery quickly.

A dedicated hotspot\, on the other hand, comes with its own internal rechargeable battery. The Telstra Elite hotspot has a four-hour rated battery life.

The device is advertised as locked to Telstra however some users have reported success in using SIM cards from Kogan and ALDI, though we have not verified this.
