It’s a growing truth that any modern house or home office will almost always be short of one of the great resources of our time - easy-to-access storage! But that’s exactly the challenge that Seagate’s answering with its new Central range.
We spent some time with the massive 4TB model, and it’s a very handy device for any media-saturated home or office. Sitting on four sturdy rubber feet, its low profile is unobtrusive but still attractive, with a mostly mesh shell to keep the unit running cool.
But it offers more than just immense space for whatever digital cruft you want to hold on to. This connected storage device lets you set up backups from multiple devices to one location, and with a free app you can even browse all your data from anywhere on the road. You can also log on from any web browser to share music, movies, or just your favourite family recipe.
Setup is simple, requiring you to just plug it in, let the drives settle in, and then visit the Seagate site where you’re walked through the rest of the process step-by-step. Then you’re prompted to update the device’s firmware, and you’re ready to go. There are apps for both iOS and Android, so it’s pretty agnostic.
A handy way to keep your files safe.
Verdict
