Most computer and mobile device users know the value of broad search facilities, whether that's Google for the web or Spotlight for a Mac. Xero now includes equivalent capability.
Xero's new search function lets users search across all the data - transactions and contacts - from one search field.
Importantly, the results are displayed without leaving the current screen.
And for keyboard-focussed users, shortcuts let you navigate Xero without using a mouse or trackpad.
"Search for Xero really changes the game in terms of how people manage their finances, faster and more efficiently," said Angus Norton, chief product officer at Xero.
"Search is an action we do every day and take for granted. It will not only change how users find information, but how they move around the app as well.
"It will save hours of productivity for our users and we're incredibly proud that features like this can have a huge impact on the productivity of the small business economy."
Tracy Newman, a director of accounting firm CloudCounting welcomed the search feature, saying "Xero search is amazing. It's easy to use and intuitive."
Search was previewed at XeroCon in August.
