Saasu, an online accounting brand, announced that they have moved their entire data infrastructure to Australia.
One of the concerns many businesses have when using cloud services is that your data could be stored anywhere in the world. In fact, you might not even know where your data is stored.
Saasu, an online accounting brand, announced that they have moved their entire data infrastructure to Australia. They have explained the move is a reponse to concerns abotu data privacy, latency and "geo-political risks".
Saasu already had back-up data in Australia. But with their infrastructure provider Rackspace establishing a data centre in Australia, it created an opportunity for a completely on-shore service.
The infrastructure upgrade includes new servers, newer software, more memory and CPU performance.
It's worth noting that even though Saasu is an Australian company and that while your data is now stored in Australia, Rackspace is an American company.
We've been using Saasu for the last three years and have been happy with its performance and features. But there are lots of other options when it comes to cloud accounting software.
It's worth noting that not every other online accounting vendor stores all data in the US. MYOB uses a mix of local and offshore servers, Reckon stores data for Reckon Accounts Hosted and Reckon One in Australia, while Xero stores data in the US. Read more about this here.
