Vodafone has also announced an additional 2,000 sites will be activated by the end of the year.
While Vodafone is the last of the big three phone providers in Australia to start offering 4G services across these cities, the mobile carrier claims that it will have "the fastest 4G mobile network in Australia".
Time will tell how accurate that prediction is.
According to a statement made on the Vodafone website, 4G will be activated for customers that are already using a compatible phone on an "eligible" Vodafone phone plan. We assume this means there won't be an extra charge, though we haven't seen anything from Vodafone about this.
Telstra, Optus and Vodafone all currently use the same 1800Mhz network band so if you currently own a 4G phone and you are using Optus or Telstra then it should also work with Vodafone’s 4G services, provided your phone is unlocked.
