Interested in expanding your business overseas? A startup event aims to attract fledgling businesses to the UK.
The UK's Startup Games gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain mentoring and advice, pitch to investors, and possibly win a trip to the UK including a return business class flight to and from London on British Airways and a five-day program of meetings.
The Startup Games is organised by the UK Department for International Trade and supported by the UK’s Global Entrepreneur Programme, “which encourages overseas entrepreneurs and innovation-rich small businesses with the potential for rapid growth to set up in the UK”, according to the website.
The event is on 28 February, but you need to apply first, submitting a one page business plan which shows current progress, development and traction. Applications close on 10 February.
It is also mandatory that more than one person with relevant business experience is involved in the company, which must at least be at the viable product/service stage.
Speakers at Startup Games Sydney will include Red Balloon founder Naomi Simson, Tyro FinTech Hub head Andrew Corbett-Jones, The Bakery London co-founder Andrew Humphries, startup evangelist Alan Jones, and Level39 founder Eric Van der Kleij.
The organisers say dozens of investors and experienced mentors will also be present.
The last Startup Games were held in Rio alongside the Olympic Games.
