Telstra has announced that they will be offering global roaming customers ‘five times the data’ for the same price.
From 14 October, customers who add the ‘international traveler pack’ before departing overseas will receive the following options:
- $29 for 100MB to use over 30 days
- $85 for 300MB to use over 30 days
- $160 for 600MB to use over 30 days
- $350 for 1.5 GB to use over 30 days
The offer is available to use in 50 eligible countries including countries across Europe, Asia, South America and the Pacific. You can view the full list of available countries on Telstra’s International Roaming page.
Telstra says that global roaming customers will also be sent usage alerts after every 20MB of usage to help avoid bill shock for its customers.
The move comes a month after Optus announced that they will be offering its postpaid customers unlimited calls and texts plus 30MB of data for $10 a day and Vodafone now allowing its customers to use their domestic plan whilst overseas for an additional $5 a day.
While Telstra does include a larger number of supported countries, it’s global roaming charges still lag far behind the competition.
