SanDisk claims that the 512GB SD UHS-I memory card delivers write speeds up to 90 MB/s and can capture real-world colour and stutter-free 4K Ultra HD video.

While a recreational shooter can fit about 1,000 images on a 8GB card shooting in JPG format, professional photographers shooting in RAW struggle to get 150 images into the same card.

However it's the video market where high capacity memory cards are becoming increasingly important. With 4K and other high-definition formats rapidly becoming standard there's a need for memory cards that are fast and have high capacity.

SanDisk is addressing this growing need with their new Extreme PRO UHS-I SDHC/SDXC memory cards. They will come in capacities of 512GB, 256GB and 128GB when they’re released in October. The 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card has an expected price of $1,150.00.

SanDisk claims that the 512GB SD UHS-I memory card delivers write speeds up to 90 MB/s and can capture real-world colour and stutter-free 4K Ultra HD video. Transfer speeds of up to 95 MB/s are also expected. This is important given that large images and 4K video produce very large files that will need to be transferred to a computer for editing and processing.

Sandisk offers a lifetime limited warranty on their cards and provide their RescuePRO Deluxe data recovery software for download so you can recover accidentally deleted images and footage.
