Telstra has announced a new data sharing plan which allows you to get extra SIMs and share your monthly data plan with up to three devices for an additional fee.
Telstra has just rolled out a new data sharing plan which allows you to share your monthly data plan with a up to three devices for an additional fee.
So how does it work and is it actually worth it?
Starting from $80 per month with a 12 month contract, you will get $600 worth of calls, unlimited SMS and 1.1GB of data that can also be shared with one other 3G enabled tablet or laptop.
Telstra is also throwing in an extra 1GB of data for the first 12 months for customers who sign up before the end of the year, so you will effectively receive 2.1GB of data for the $80 per month.
Data can be shared with up to three SIM enabled devices but it will set you back a further $10/month for each additional device.
Here is a short video from Telstra explaining how it works:
While it’s nice to see Telstra offering customers some additional flexibility when it comes to data usage, it's not exactly the cheapest offer on the market. You could also "tether" phone data connection to your tablet, which you can already do but at no additional cost.
You'll also want to check that your tablet and laptop has a SIM slot.
