Conference calling services are convenient, but not cheap. Australian Office 365 subscribers will soon gain this capability for no extra charge.
Skype for Business is already part of Microsoft's $7-a-month Office 365 Business Essentials and $17.50-a-month Business Premium subscriptions. From 1 September the service will be extended allow people to join conference calls from Australian mobile or fixed public switched telephone network (PSTN) phones.
External participants will be able to dial in to join a conference, and Skype for Business users will be able to dial out to bring others into the conversation. The Skype for Business network operates around the world.
On a related note, Microsoft is this month running a series of half-day Skype for Business discovery events in Sydney (16 August), Perth (18 August), Melbourne (24 August) and Brisbane (30 August).
The plan is to address questions including: Where do you start with business communications? What do you not know, that you should? How do you empower your employees to be connected and productive across all devices – at home, at work and on the go?
