Select Office 365 subscribers will be getting a boost to their included SkyDrive Pro storage accounts from the default 7GB to 25GB.
The bump-up in storage is for the following versions of Office 365:
- Office 365 Small Business
- Office 365 Small Business Premium
- Office 365 Midsize Business
- Office 365 Enterprise
- Office 365 Education
- Office 365 Government
Note that this bump up on storage does not apply to Office 365 Home Premium subscribers or users who have regular Skydrive accounts.
Other SkyDrive Pro improvements include an increase to the overall file upload limit to 2 GB/file and the recycle bin retention has been increased from 30 to 90 days. SkyDrive Pro will now also save the last ten versions of a document by default.
If you're not an Office 365 subscriber then it's more than likely that your either using regular Skydrive or other cloud storage providers such as Google Drive or Dropbox to store your files.
Google Drive also offers an integrated office suite for editing documents, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, though it is missing some of the more advanced features of Microsoft's Office suite.
It's worth noting however that Google do offer a business grade version of their online office suite. It is called Google Apps for Business and comes at a one-off cost of $50 per user, compared with a monthly subscription cost of $13.50 for Office 365 Small Business Premium.
