Here's a fancy trick if you run a bar - it's a phone app that lets your customers run a tab.
Here is an interesting idea - a phone app that lets your customers pay for a bar tab using their phone, instead of lining up at the bar while your bar staff tally up a large bill.
The app is called Clipp. Here is a video:
The customer has to enter their credit card details before opening a tab so they can’t skip on the bill.
When a customer orders a drink, they show the tab number on their phone to the bar staff - that way they can't ordeer drinks without paying. The Clipp web site also states that bars can close the customers tab "at any time", which charges their credit card.
When the customer closes the tab, the charge is made to the credit card. A receipt is emailed to the customer.
Customers can keep a track on how much they are spending.
The Clipp system directly integrates with certain Point-of-Sale systems. Staff can also auto-close all open tabs at the end of the night via the POS.
The FAQ page on the Clipp website states that the following POS systems are supported: H&L Australia, ImPOS, Idealpos, Finchcorp Systems, Jensen Data Systems and bluefrog POS
The Clipp web site doesn’t state what fees and charges are involved for businesses to use the service.
