Choosing the right printer fleet can save time and money.
GP clinic Yamanto Family Practice - a recently established business in Yamanto, southwest of Brisbane - had eight employees and needed high quality printing and scanning capabilities that could integrate with Best Practice and other clinical software for tasks including printing prescriptions and reports, and scanning a high volume of clinical information.
The practice turned to Rend Tech Associates, a healthcare IT specialist and Brother authorised partner, which recommended a MFD plus a document scanner for the reception area, and a printer for each consulting room.
A Brother MFC-L5755DW provides printing, copying, faxing and casual scanning in the reception area, while an ADS-2800W document scanner was added to take care of digitising the large amount of paperwork arriving at the practice.
Each consulting room was equipped with a Brother HL-L5200DW monochrome printer fitted with two LT-5500 paper trays to increase the number of pages that can be printed before replenishment is needed and to allow the use of special media such as prescription forms without requiring doctors to mess around swapping trays or feeding individual sheets.
"So many times during my tenure in this industry, I've heard people say, 'It's only a printer' or 'I just need to scan some documents,'" said Brother commercial division scanner specialist Chuck Leszyk.
"But seeing what a well-built print and imaging solution enables and hearing our customers talk about it, keeps reminding me it's not just about getting a job done - it's more about achieving efficiencies in time and productivity, which impact the business' bottom-line."
By choosing devices with Wi-Fi interfaces, Yamanto Family Practice was able to avoid the cost of additional network cabling.
Further cost savings accrued from the use of common consumables throughout the practice, and the standardisation has also paid off in terms of staff productivity.
"By opting to use the Brother printing and scanning solution for our medical practice, we were able to maximise the efficiency of the operational workflows whilst at the same time ensure that we have a reliable solution which meets our expectation and budget," said principal GP Dr Youseff Khammar.
