Optus selling Sony's Xperia Z Ultra water-resistant phone

For $85 a month you get the dust and a water resistant Sony Xperia Z Ultra with 2GB of data from Optus.

Sony's 6.1-inch screen smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra, is now available for pre-order with Optus on a $85 a month plan that comes with 800 minutes of included calls and 2GB of data.

The very large screen means the Xperia Z Ultra looks like a tablet computer as well as a phone - one of the features is you can use any pen or pencil as the stylus.

The follow up to the Sony Xperia Z, the Z1 is also available for pre-order and will set you back $67 a month with 600 minutes and 1GB of data.

The Xperia Z1, is the newest flagship smartphone and like the Xperia Z before it, the handset comes with a 5-inch display but with more processing power under the hood and a much improved 20.7 megapixel camera.

Both the Xperia Z Ultra and Z1 smartphones are water and dust resistant and according to Optus, both handsets will be available from the 1st of October.
