Optus expands 4G coverage

If you rely on an Optus phone for work you might be interested to know that there are now 200 more places with 4G coverage.

While we're pleased that Optus has announced the expansion of their 4G data network with another 200 locations added to their coverage map, we're wondering whether that is good news for those who like finding holiday destinations where work can’t follow them.

The expanded network coverage is available right across the country. Some locations will be added to the network this month with the planned expansion expected to be completed in April 2015.

By the end of this expansion, Optus claims that it will cover 90% of the population with their 4G network.

With Optus expanding their network, Vodafone also embarking on a massive expansion program, and Telstra continuing to boost performance and coverage, it's a good time to be a mobile data user as the performance and coverage gap between the different service providers closes.

It also means that MVNO (Mobile virtual network operators - companies that resell services from the physical network operators) will deliver more viable competition. That should translate into better pricing and more flexible contracts for business owners.
