Officeworks now sells NBN plans

The office supplies retailer is selling NBN plans from $69 per month.

Officeworks has started offering NBN services through its website, offering both personal and business plans.

The plans are being sold under the branding 'Accord with Officeworks', essentially acting as a retail service provider (RSP) with the NBN. Officeworks started offering the plans on 13 December.

"At the moment there is a lot of choice in the marketplace and that can be confusing for many of our customers," Officeworks head of technology Sandy Young told CRN.

"Accord with Officeworks, like all of our other service offers, has been put together to remove the confusion from selecting an NBN provider by creating plans that are simple to select and cater for either the home or a business."

The retailer's unlimited data plans are offered with a 12-month contract, starting at $69 per month for a “typical evening speed” of 20.91 Mbps for personal use.

Personal plans come in at $69 for "standard" speeds of 20.91 Mbps, $79 for "fast" speeds at 43.6 Mbps and $89 for "ultra-fast" speeds of 80 Mbps. Each plan also has an optional VoIP service for a fee.

Meanwhile business plans start at $89 per month for "standard", $99 for "fast" and $109 for "ultra-fast". Business plans also include unlimited local and national calls, a static IP address, web filtering security, connection alerts and 24/7 support.

"Our standard plans are in line with what the market place offers. Where we differ is our ‘off the shelf’ Business Ready Plans that are targeted at SOHO customers," Young told CRN.

"These plans have everything you need from an NBN service to manage your day to day business needs including VoIP, Static IP, Priority Technical Support, Web Filtering. We also offer the benefit for our 30 Day Business customers to pay for the NBN plans on their 30 Day Business accounts, reducing the amount of time they need to spend managing their outgoings."

This would be Officeworks' latest foray into the IT channel after two years, when it reached an agreement with managed services provider CSG to offer device-as-a-service in 2016.

The retailer also became the home of Harris Technology after its last store closed in 2015, concentrating on its online business while offering fulfillment via five Officeworks stores. Harris then eventually merged with Anyware and Shoply in 2016 and became a public company.
