Do you have a food or beverage-related business idea? The Lion Unleashed program could help give it a kick-start.
Lion – the company behind brands such as XXXX, Hahn SuperDry, Kirin, Dairy Farmers, Dare Iced Coffee and Steinlager – is backing a new startup accelerator program called Lion Unleashed.
The beverage company is looking for businesses with ideas relating to the production, distribution and consumption of food and drink – that could include aspects such as loyalty, sociability, health and wellbeing, foodtech, agtech, data analytics, and distribution and logistics.
Potential applicants can find out more at roadshow sessions being held in Brisbane (26 June), Sydney, (27 June), Melbourne (28 June) and Auckland (3 July). Applications close on 13 July for the 12-week program.
In return for equity, the program offers up to $50,000 from the Slingshot Investment Fund, plus technology, software, hosting, office space and catering benefits valued at over $500,000.
Participating businesses will be mentored by people such as Afterpay CEO Nick Molnar, Atlassian head of R&D Dominic Price, Carsales.com head of engineering Michael Ridgway, Deliveroo head of country Levi Aron, and MenuLog managing director Alistair Venn.
Lion CEO Stuart Irvine said his company sees the program as "an opportunity for us to collaborate with the best and brightest startups, who at the same time can benefit from Lion's unique understanding of consumers across alcohol, dairy and juice, our deep manufacturing experience and potential partnership opportunities with our leading brands."
