The new Epson WorkForce WF-100 weighs 1.6Kg and works wirelessly with iPhones and iPads.
The new Epson WorkForce WF-100 is designed for portability and ease of use with mobile devices such as phones, tablets and notebooks.
It works over Wi-Fi (an access point is not essential thanks to the Wi-Fi Direct support) with iPhones and iPads, Android phones and tablets, Chromebooks, and Mac and Windows notebooks and desktops. In some cases Epson's printing app may be required, but the WF-100 works directly with iOS devices via AirPrint (Apple's driverless printing system).
The $399, 1.6kg device is supposed to be good for 100 black and white pages per charge, or 50 in colour. And a full recharge only takes two and a half hours with the mains adaptor or a high current USB power supply. If you only have access to a normal 0.5A USB source, it stretches out to 10 hours, which probably means overnight.
The ink cartridges have limited capacity - around 250 pages for the black tank and 200 for the tri-colour one - so it's probably worth getting into the habit of carrying spares with you.
According to Epson, the WF-100 is designed for printing high-quality documents (up to A4) and photographs (up to 10cm by 15cm). It's far from being the speediest business printer, but its small size (30.9cm by 15.4cm by 6.1cm) and light weight make up for that.
