Photographers and photo labs aren't the only businesses that regularly need to print large-format photos. Now here's a printer for the rest of us.
If a large-format colour photo printer is right for you - we're thinking estate agents, boutiques and so on - the new Epson SureColor SC-P800 might be suitable.
The successor to the Stylus Pro 3880, it handles paper up to A2+ size. If that's not big enough, an optional roll feed handles paper up to 431.8mm (17in) wide and 3276.7mm long for panorama-style - or very tall! - prints.
The nine-ink UltraChrome HD system is said to give an exceptionally large colour gamut with improved lightfastness, approximately 60 years based on standard testing, and an estimated 200 years in an album stored in appropriate conditions.
Some software is provided in the box, but purchasers can download additional programs. The bundled software includes ColorBase2 for simple colour calibration in conjunction with a spectrometer, and the Epson Print Layout plug-in to ease printing from Photoshop, Lightroom, NikonViewNX-i and other software.
Among other features are a 2.7in touchscreen control panel, and USB, Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, including AirPrint and Google Cloud print support for smartphones and tablets.
The Epson SureColor SC-P800 costs $2195 RRP, but as with all printers, you should definitely shop around for a deal.
