Moves are underway to provide NBN training for local businesses in Gosford, Wollongong and the Gold Coast
If you're lucky to live in the right area, you might have access to free group training in digital business fundamentals and free one-on-one sessions with a "mentor".
It's called the Digital Enterprise Program, and now the government is looking to add NBN training under the scheme for local businesses within the Gosford, Gold Coast and Wollongong regions.
Selected organisations will receive grants of up to $280,000 to offer free expert training to local businesses on the opportunities the NBN brings to the table.
The government says that over 4,800 local businesses have already taken part in the program and claims that some participants have used the training to improve their own online businesses.
“Workforce Blueprint in South Australia moved their entire business, including email, documents, and finance software to the cloud, meaning their employees can work from anywhere, anytime that suits," Senator Stephen Conroy said in a statement.
“Another small business established in 2011, Didgeridoo Dojo, participated in the training program and delivers online didgeridoo lessons to 7,500 customers, with 1,000 hours of lessons being viewed each month.
The program is operating in 44 areas around Australia.
