MYOB's Accountants Office and Accountants Enterprise accounting practice software is starting to gain cloud-based features.
While MYOB has been marketing cloud-based accounting software for some time, it's only just beginning that transition for the software it develops for use by accountants.
MYOB's Accountants Office and Accountants Enterprise accounting practice software is starting to gain cloud-based features. The first two online services are MYOB Connect and MYOB Ledger.
MYOB Connect focuses on secure document transfer. It allows accountants to send documents to their clients and have them electronically signed and returned. Significantly, clients will be able to handle these documents from smartphones as well as other devices.
The service - offered at no extra charge to MYOB practice software customers - will be available in early 2015 following a restricted beta that starts next month.
It is not clear how MYOB Connect will integrate with Accountants Office and Accountants Enterprise, or if it is simply intended as a 'value add' service.
MYOB Ledger will be part of future versions of Accountants Office and Accountants Enterprise. It appears to be an extremely simple accounting system for very small businesses that want their accountants to do all the work.
As the business grows or the client wants to take a more active role on the financial side, the accounts will be easily transferred to MYOB Essentials Cashbook or MYOB Essentials Accounting.
Like MYOB Connect, MYOB Ledger will be available in early 2015.
