MYOB PayDirect now accepts EFTPOS as well as credit card payments.
Until now MYOB's PayDirect app and service has lacked the capability to accept EFTPOS transactions.
That has meant businesses have had to point some of their potential customers or clients to the nearest ATM, and in some cases lost sales as a result.
"We know that EFTPOS transactions are the most common type of card transactions in Australia. We also know that many consumers prefer to use their own money to pay for everyday items, rather than using a credit card," said James Scollay, MYOB's general manager of SME solutions.
A recent survey conducted for MYOB found 13% of businesses said they had lost customers due to not having EFTPOS facilities, and curiously this figure rose to 28% among business owners aged between 18 and 29.
PayDirect's pricing involves a flat fee of 27c for each EFTPOS transaction, and 1.77% for credit card transactions. There's no ongoing contract, but a $199 card reader is required.
While PayDirect integrates with MYOB's SME accounting systems, it can be used independently.
