MYOB has expanded its Advanced suite for mid-sized businesses with the launch of MYOB Advanced People.
MYOB Advanced People is a cloud payroll system for mid-sized organisations. It can be used as an independent product, but MYOB officials stressed that it isn't merely integrated with the MYOB Advanced Business enterprise resource planning (ERP) system but “unified”.
What they mean by that is Advanced People and Advanced Business can run on the same database, presenting a consistent user interface, and eliminating ongoing worries about maintaining integration between products from different vendors.
Advanced People taps into MYOB's Data Calculation Engine to automatically determine tax and superannuation payments, and MYOB's PaySuper service to simplify the process of paying superannuation contributions into the relevant funds. How these tasks are performed doesn't really matter to customers, but this arrangement makes it possible for MYOB to more efficiently provide the functionality across its range of products.
According to senior product manager David Sutherland, Advanced People is particularly attractive for businesses that operate as multiple entities - whether that's as a group of companies or just as branches in different locations - as multiple payrolls can be handled in one place.
Telecommunications equipment manufacturer and supplier Codecom is an early user of Advanced People.
Codecom director Andrew Purcell said: “When we implemented MYOB Advanced People, we immediately noticed improvements and efficiencies in business workflow. The biggest appeal however was its full integration; we didn't have to change between programs or databases and that enabled us to provide fast and nimble service to our customers.
“We really believe in investing in automation, and MYOB has tailored the product to suit our business needs so that I can focus less on manual tasks and more on the growth and success of my business through customer satisfaction.”
MYOB plans to add other human resources functions such as rostering to Advanced People.
Prices were not revealed, but MYOB officials said that after an initial 12-month commitment Advanced People can be used on a month-by-month basis, scaling up or down according to the number of employees. This flexibility can be important for organisations with highly seasonal workforces, or when acquisitions or divestitures occur.
MYOB Advanced People is sold exclusively though the company's partner network.
