Microsoft has told us that buying Office 2013 on DVD is possible in Australia, if a retail shop chooses to sell it on DVD.
We previously reported that Office 2013 was not available on disc in Australia, having been given that information by a Microsoft spokesperson and checking various shops including Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
But the same Microsoft spokesperson has contacted us again, saying "it seems there is some confusion" and that "In Australia, Office 2013 perpetual licenses (Full Packaged Product) are available to purchase in two formats: as a DVD or for download using a product key purchased in store. It is up to individual retailers to decide which versions they will range in store."
Office 365 subscriptions can be purchased in stores, but even if you choose a plan that includes the desktop version of Office (for example, Office 365 Small Business Premium) you won't get a DVD: it's strictly download only.
If you know a retail shop that's definitely stocking Office 2013 on disc, please tell us and your fellow readers in a comment.
