Microsoft is introducing the capability to block your employees from accessing Microsoft Teams after work hours.
It’s well understood that late-night work messaging isn’t healthy. In 2017, France even introduced laws requiring employers and employees to address rest periods and the use of digital tools.
So it’s interesting to see that Microsoft will soon give employers the ability to block employees’ use of the Microsoft Teams messaging app after work hours. It will begin enabling the capability this quarter.
The capability is designed to save employees from working while not on a shift, and to help employers comply with labour regulations.
IT administrators can configure Teams so that it will “display a message and/or disable access to Teams app” at certain times.
That will probably be good news for some employees, though we wonder how many businesses are willing to use this capability.
