Seagate has announced a new portfolio of Networked Attached Storage (NAS) solutions specifically designed for today’s small businesses.
The five new NAS products can cover the needs of most businesses as they come in capacities ranging from 2TB to 24TB. Prices range from $399 for the two-bay 2TB to 24TB for $2,599. As the price goes up, so do performance and flexibility.
For example, you could buy a high-end model but save some of the initial cost but not fully loading it with drives. Then, as your needs grows, you can add more hard drives to the system. The NAS devices Seagate is now offering can hold between two and six drives depending on the model you choose.
Like many NAS devices, there's more to the Seagate range than just storage. They include a number of extra features such as Seagate Antivirus that scans the files stored on the NAS to help safeguard against viruses and malware. There's also Seagate Surveillance Manager. This works with thousands of models of IP security cameras, offering event and schedule-based recording and mobile apps for remote viewing.
It also includes tools for creating your own Intranet - like an internal Internet that is only used inside the business - for sharing company documents such as policies, events and other useful information. The main tool they offer is WordPress, which is a powerful platform that is very easy to use.
As we've discussed before, it's possible to use a NAS as a private cloud storage service. Seagate includes Own Cloud - an app that provides universal access to one’s files via the web, a computer or from mobile devices from locations outside of the network.
