Looking for a point-of-sale system that's tightly integrated with MYOB?

MYOB Kounta provides tight integration with AccountRight and Essentials.

When accounting software developer MYOB revealed it had bought into cloud POS provider Kounta earlier this year, the two companies promised a fully-integrated POS option for MYOB Essentials and AccountRight users before 2014 was out.

MYOB has delivered on that promise, announcing MYOB Kounta.

The new product offers "seamless access" to MYOB Kounta for MYOB AccountRight and MYOB Essentials users that store their data files in the cloud. Other than that, it's not clear whether there are any differences between MYOB Kounta and the version provided by Kounta.

Despite the MYOB labelling, the new version still includes integration with Xero, Saasu, Quickbooks and other online services.

The price is the same - starting at $50 per register - however you buy it. There's also a free Lite plan which is suitable for trial purposes or unusually quiet locations as it is limited to 10 transactions a day.

According to MYOB, data from earlier MYOB retail products or other POS systems can be readily imported into MYOB Kounta if desired.

"No more chunky registers," said Lawrence Troiano, owner of Basecamp Espresso. "My staff and I can take the cash register to the customer, if we want to, by logging in on an iPad or even a smart phone.
"We also love that MYOB Kounta doesn't hinder our customers' creativity! They can be really specific about their order, which in the past could be tricky to keep track of, and we can easily modify the product on the system to match their special requests."
