Know someone using Windows 7? Make sure they read this

In less than a month, Microsoft will stop providing security updates for Windows 7.

It’s a very bad idea to use Windows 7 after 14 January 2020, because that’s when Microsoft will stop supplying security updates for it.

Without those updates you’ll be more vulnerable to ransomware and other malware that can seriously damage your business.

You shouldn’t rely on Microsoft Security Essentials – a Microsoft security tool for Windows 7 – to protect you after 14 January. As some sites have pointed out, Microsoft will also stop providing updates for MSE after that date.

And while you can buy Extended Security Updates for Windows 7, that won’t include updates for MSE.

So, now is the time to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, or buy a new computer that comes with Windows 10.

Don’t forget to upgrade all your computers. You may have upgraded the one you use every day, but what about the spare laptop in the corner of your office, or the computer at your reception? These could be attractive targets for attackers.
