A defect in some of the chargers could potentially result in fire or serious injury, according to the recall notice.
What are the two IT-related categories most likely to be the subject of recalls? As far as we can see, it's lithium-ion batteries and power adaptors/chargers. The latest recall concerns the latter.
JB Hi-Fi has recalled the Futuretronics Universal Charger model FUT-1222.
The problem is that "some chargers are short circuiting while connected to a power outlet" which "could potentially result in fire, electrical shock (if internal components of the charger are exposed) or serious injury," according to the recall notice.
The charger was sold at JB Hi-Fi and JB Hi-Fi Home stores between 4 July 2016 and 20 February 2017.
As usual, "consumers should immediately cease using the charger and return it to any JB Hi-Fi or JB Hi-Fi Home store for a full refund."
