If Google Apps appeals but you don't want to be bothered with even the minimal administrative load involved, Crucial will look after the chores for you.
As we've seen in the news recently, some people want as little involvement with IT as possible, even going to the extent of having someone else print out their emails.
Clearly, BIT readers aren't in that group, but there is a lot to be said for spending more time on your business and less on looking after IT systems.
Web hosting company Crucial has introduced a new service that it calls Managed Google Apps. Essentially, you get all the Google Apps goodness without having to be your own administrator.
“We understand as a technology company that there were some challenges with the maintenance and setup of Google Apps, something that Australian small businesses may struggle with," said Crucial CEO David Murray. "Our answer to this was to handle the technical aspects of the apps with a managed solution of Google Apps for Work - something we believe will benefit Australian small businesses.”
The service costs $9 per user per month, compared with $US5 (currently just over $7) if you buy Google Apps directly from Google. There's an optional email migration service from your old server, priced around $45 per mailbox.
While Crucial helps with the setup of Google Apps, it does not provide user support.
