The new Telstra Locator Cat-M1 Tag is designed to track toolboxes, backpacks, trailers, vehicles and other valuables.
Do you have a ute, trailer, toolbox or other business equiment that could be stolen, setting you back thousands of dollars?
The number of ways to track that equipment has increased in recent years. Many tracking devices are now available that use wireless networks to track everything from vehicles and trailers to smaller items such as toolboxes.
These devices include the new Telstra Locator Cat-M1 Tag, which is designed for tracking toolboxes, backpacks, trailers, vehicles and other valuables. It’s a 7.5cm-long device that weighs 46 grams, is water and shock-resistant and operates for up to 10 days before needing recharging. It uses Telstra's Cat-M1 wireless network, Bluetooth and GPS to track your equipment.
The tags cost $190 each and you’ll also need:
- a Cat-M1 subscription, which costs $5 a month.
- a Telstra Locator Subscription, which costs $10 and is on a month-to-month plan (no lock-in contract, according to the Telstra web site). It gives you the ability to locate up to 20 tags and devices. This subscription also includes two Bluetooth tags (for tracking small items like keys and wallets) and one Wi-Fi tag (for tracking larger items like bags).
This is far from the only product available on the market to track business equipment. If you’ve not explored tracking devices, and a robbery would put your business at risk, then it might be worth looking into these products.
