Even if you've only got the germ of an idea for a tech business, this could be an hour well spent.
Whether you're involved in a tech startup or just curious about how that part of the business sector operates, this Thursday's 'Intro to the Sydney Startup Community' may be of interest.
Presented by educational institution General Assembly at its Surry Hills premises (Suite 6, 16-22 Cooper Street), this free event runs from 8am to 9am on February 13.
The idea is to "provide the inside scoop on key events and meetups, companies, VCs, blogs, incubators, programs, hot issues, and more designed for startups," a spokesperson said.
"Additionally you'll get an overview of the key players in the community including Pushstart, Startmate, Fishburners, Blue Chilli, Innovation Bay, Silicon Beach, Sydney Angels, Syd Start, ATP and others."
So even if you've only got the germ of an idea for a tech business, this could be an hour well spent.
And if you're interested in tech, movies or music and you've got a week to spare, you might want to enter General Assembly's sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip for four to SXSW in the US next month. Well, we're guessing its SXSW, because General Assembly is a bit coy, referring only to "that big tech festival in Austin this March", presumably for legal reasons.
The winner will stay in a private house alongside entrepreneurs and investors, and meet with tech industry experts. The prize also includes flights, some ground transportation and more.
