First 1,700 homes and businesses in Toowoomba get NBN

The first 1,700 homes and businesses in central Toowoomba can now connect to the NBN fibre network.

If you're in Toowoomba you can now sign up for the NBN from six providers: iiNet, Internode, iPrimus, Telstra, TransACT and Westnet.

On completion of works already underway, more than 26,000 homes and businesses in the area will be served by the fibre network.
Work is also underway in parts of Mount Lofty, Prince Henry Heights, Redwood, East Toowoomba, South Toowoomba, Mount Kynoch, North Toowoomba, Harlaxton, Withcott, Rangeville, Kearneys Spring and Centenary Heights.
"I urge everyone who can access the NBN in Toowoomba to make the switch so they can experience what the NBN has to offer," said Stephen Conroy, Federal Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.
Toowoomba was one of the areas involved in trials of the NBN fixed wireless network.
