Excel tricks: sort data without messing up others’ view

If you use Excel for the web, this new feature could come in handy.

If you and your colleagues use Excel for the web to work on the same spreadsheet at the same time, you may have experienced other people messing up your view of the data.

For example, someone might sort or filter a worksheet while you’re working on it, changing the shape of the table, Microsoft explains.

Microsoft has recognised this problem and is releasing a fix for people using Excel for the web. It’s called Sheet View and it allows you to create custom views that only you see.

As Microsoft explains, you could create a view that shows the data the way you prefer, and ensures your view won’t change.

Microsoft explains that you’ll be prompted to enter Sheet View if you want to sort and filter data and someone else is also viewing the document. Or you can select the View tab and then “New”.

All Excel for the web users will get access to Sheet View in the “coming weeks”.
