Evernote Hello: another way to get rid of business cards

We've covered various ways to scan business cards to your phone before, and Evernote Hello is another way of doing it.

Evernote Hello 2.0 is out now for free for iPhone and Android phones.

We've covered various ways to scan business cards to your phone before, and Evernote Hello is another way of doing it.

You can use it to quickly scan business cards and capture information about people you meet while you’re in meetings.

The business card scanning feature requires one screen tap. Once it’s on, the program finds the edge of the business card and automatically snaps a photo using your phone’s camera.

It then recognizes the information and, depending on your preferences, adds more information by finding that person on LinkedIn and adds them to your address book.

They are also added to your Evernote notebook and you can choose which notebook they land in.

If all you have is a contact’s email address, you can manually type it into Evernote Hello and it will search for that address on LinkedIn and fill in the rest of the contact details.

The other feature we liked was the Hello Connect option. It shares your profile with other Evernote Hello users that are nearby. This can be useful in meetings.

If all the other meeting participants are using Evernote Hello, you start Hello Connect and your phone will play an audible tone. The other parties’ phones hear the tone and your details are shared.
