Epson launches new smart home laser TV projector EpiqVision EH-LS300B

Epson Australia has launched its new EpiqVision EH-LS300B very-short-throw projection TV system. It also has built in 2.1 audio provided by Yamaha and can come with an optional, low-glare, textured, 100 or 120-inch screen that helps diffuse ambient light. Epson calls this screen technology Ambient Light Rejection (ALR).

The ultra-short throw system sits close to the wall and can produce a 1080p Full HD picture of up to 120 inches at a brightness of 3,600 lumens. In a quick demonstration it produced a very watchable image in a modestly-lit room. Letter box bars were some way off a regular TV but the larger screen made for a more-engrossing, cinematic experience. It uses Epson’s 3LCD technology with a high contrast ratio of 2,500,000:1

Aside from the usual connectivity features, Images can be displayed by pairing the device to smartphones or tablets using Bluetooth. Optical out audio connectivity allows it to be connected to an existing surround sound system in their home too.

For a Full HD projector, in a not-dark room, that's a very watchable image.

The EpiqVision EH-LS300B supports over 7,000 apps enabling users to stream video-on-demand content, TV shows, live sporting events and the latest blockbuster movies. You can also use its in-built casting feature to stream content from mobile devices.

A very impressive lack of distortion despite the short throw. The special fabric screen makes a real difference too.

The EpiqVision EH-LS300B supports office applications for those who work from home: Epson’s Online Meetings app, powered by Zoom, allows you to connect with colleagues and have engaging face-to-face meetings by attaching a video conference camera.

Epson launches new EcoTank Pro printer with Heat-Free Technology

Epson also launched a new EcoTank Pro ET-5800 all-in-one and split its EcoTank range into three categories: EcoTank, EcoTank Pro and EcoTank Photo. The new EcoTank Pro ET-5800 is an A4 wireless all-in-one printer which offers fast, cartridge-free printing with enough ink to print up to 4,500 black pages and 2,800 pages in colour. Refillable ink tanks provide low-cost printing. All EcoTank printers are powered by Epson’s PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology.

The ET-5800 prints at 25ppm (black) and 12ppm (colour) with no warm-up time for fast first page out (due to Epson’s Heat-Free Technology). This also enables low power consumption (when actually printing). It uses Epson DURABrite pigment ink and delivers professional-quality output and vibrant, borderless prints. It also includes a 500-sheet paper capacity, rear specialty-paper feed, plus a large 4.3-inch colour touchscreen for easy navigation.

Epson printer
As fast as a laser, but heat-free. If you print a lot - you'll save power.

Epson GM Marketing Bruce Bealby explained, “We now have three EcoTank categories; EcoTank for superb quality, hassle-free printing at an ultra-low cost and the ideal solution for busy homes and home offices. Then EcoTank Pro featuring high speed, heavy-duty models designed to provide worry-free, cost-effective printing to small businesses, home offices and workgroups. Finally, we have EcoTank Photo featuring five colour printing and delivering superb photo quality for those aspiring photographers and enthusiasts. Large ink tank printer adoption is growing rapidly worldwide and as a result Epson recently sold its 50,000,000th EcoTank printer."

Heat-Free Technology

PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology enables a fast, first page out time as it requires no heat to warm up when switched on or awoken from sleep: laser printers need to pre-heat the fuser to print. There are also no delays caused by accumulated heat in the printhead and consistent high-speed printing is ensured, even for documents with high-printing density. The printers need 85 percent less power to operate, which can translate to lower energy costs - but only if you're printing regularly throughout the day - standby power consumption is similar.

Less intervention increases productivity

Epson also says that its 'Heat-Free' inkjet printers have fewer parts that can fail, which reduces the amount of interventions required. Additionally, there is no heat damage to the printheads to guarantee that they last longer. However, it must be remembered that inkjet printers cannot be turned off completely, otherwise their daily maintenance cycles don't run and the print heads can become irredeemably clogged.
