Doing business online: when you don't know where to begin

We've just spotted a 12-week online crash course in all the major online business basics.

The Get Up To Speed (GUTS) course covers social media, website design and development, search engine optimisation, cloud computing, pay per click, online advertising and emarketing.

It is delivered online between February 9 and April 30 using a combination of 'elessons' and webinars.

It is run primarily for businesses in Queensland but open to those elsewhere in ustralia and New Zealand.

The fee is $295 for Queensland residents and $595 for others. The difference is because the course is being funded by Skills Queensland.

An additional benefit to Queenslanders is that GUTS is an approved unit of competency (BSBEBU501A, Investigate and Design eBusiness solutions) which is part of qualifications such as Certificate IV in Tourism.

Live information sessions are being held in:
  • Caloundra (January 24)
  • Caboolture (February 5)
  • Miami (Gold Coast; February 7)
For those elsewhere, introductory webinars will take place on:
  • January 23 (9.30am Queensland time)
  • February 8 (12.30pm Queensland time)

More than 380 Queensland business professionals took the GUTS course last year.

GUTS is backed by the Broadband Today Alliance of 120 local councils seeking to identify ways that businesses in their communities can benefit from the NBN.
